USE
OF VIOLENCE BY THE SPECIAL FORCES OF POLICE
On
the occasion of a simple quarrel between two families in January 6,
2002 in a Tirana district and illegal intervention was carried out
by police. One of the police men has taken the side of his brother
in the quarreling and he has even called his colleagues of the
Special Forces to intervene and to resolve by force the conflict. A
police car went to the place, and the policemen have threatened and
maltreated the members of the other family. The AHC sent a group to
verify the happening and it was proved that the complaints of the
damaged family responded to the reality.
In
addition to this violent and illegal intervention, the police
station of this district remained indifferent and did not denounce
this act to the authorities, claiming that the conflict was already
resolved.
The
AHC condemns the behavior of the police forces, as a flagrant
violence of its duties and calls authorities to take appropriated
measures.
