AHC
addresses the Prime Minister regarding the
situation in the pre detention facilities
During the months of
November-December 2007, AHC undertook some
monitoring missions in the pre detention
facilities and prisons, more concretely in Berat,
Vlorė, Krujė, Kukės, Tropojė, Korēė. Peqin and
the Prison Hospital in Tirana. Based on the
conclusions of these monitoring missions, AHC
addressed to the Prime Minister of Albania,
Minister of Justice and to the General Director
of Prisons its concerns related to the situation
in these pre detention facilities and related
suggestions for the improvement of the
situation, through on official letter which was
also reflected in the Albanian media.
During January-February 2008
were realized monitoring missions in the
penitentiary institutions of St. Ali Demi,
Jordan Misja, Mine Peza, Vaqarr, and in the
pre detention institution in Durrės. Very soon
AHC will produce a full report on the situation
in the pre detention institutions and its
concrete suggestions for the improvement in the
future of the situation in this field. |
