The training of the AHC ‘ Long Term Observers

27.05.2009

During the period April and May 2009, AHC undertook some training sessions for its long term observers. On 24 April 2009 the training was held on Tirana with long term observers of Tirana and Durres. On 9 May 2009 was held the training in Elbasan for the long term observers of Elbasan and Korca city. On 14 May was held the training in Fier for the long term observers of Fier, Gjirokastra and Vlora and on 16 May 2009 was held the training in Shkodra for the long term observers of Shkodra and Kukes.

AHC correspondents participate in these training sessions as the field coordinator for monitoring the parliamentary elections.

The aim of these trainings was increasing the capacity of the long term observers in order to monitor the election in impartial, objective and professional way. During training, observers were recognized with the theoretical and practical aspects of electoral legislation, the rights and duties of observers, election management, establishment and functioning of the Central Election Commission, Commission of zonal election, pre-election process, voters lists, electoral campaign, voting and counting process, etc.

AHC Long term observers were recognized with the manual for the Election Code, drafted by experts of the AHC, which address the most important aspects on which AHC observers will be focused during the monitoring mission of parliament election of 28 June 2009.

The trainings were interactive, focusing not only in the theoretical aspects but even in some practical and organization issues.

The project is financially supported by Small grant program of the Democracy Commission of US Embassy in Tirana
