Stop
violence of the Greek Police towards Albanians
Based
on the press reports and the in-field fact-finding from the
correspondent of this Committee in the district of Elbasan, it
resulted that the Military Greek Police in the vicinity of the
Albanian border point detained and cruelly maltreated the Albanian
citizens: Ligor Halili, Mili Halili and Rrahman Pashollari. Serious
injuries were caused especially to Ligor Halili who was urgenly
operated in the hospital of Elbasan.
Albanian Helsinki Committee condemns this barbarious act of the
Greek Police and demands that the culprits be held legally
responsible. Such cases have been reiterated, but the Albanian
authorities didn't react at the right time and with the right force.
The Albanian public, the injured and their family members are
willing to know not only about the attitude of the relevant Albanian
bodies but also about the steps taken by the Greek government to
give an end to such condemnable acts also by the Greek legislation,
that have discriminating features towards the Albanian migrants and
are incompatible with the international standarts.
