PRELIMINARY REPORT ON THE PROGRESS OF THE GENERAL ELECTIONS PROCESS OF JULY 3, 2005 IN ALBANIA

Press Release
The complaint by the journalist  Artur Çani must be considered objectively

According to the press and TV reports dated October, 2, 2003 the journalist Artur Çani was insulted and threatened by the officer of the Guard of the Republic, Agim Lleshi. Also he attempted to drag him along by tearing his shirt as well. It seems that the cause of this incident was the parking of his car at a place not allowed for parking (on the pavement near the headquarters of the chairmanship of the Parliament). Immediately after the incident the journalist Çani  filed a suit to the law enforcement and prosecution bodies.

The announcement of the Ministry of Public Order presents a different version from that publicly announced by Mr.Çani. Despite this fact, AHC being unbiased about the proceedings of the incident, suggests to the relevant bodies to objectively consider the complaints submitted by the the journalist, and following that to make public the results of this attestation by notifying the claimant in person.
