Information on the
activity in Korça, May 3-4, 2006
 On
May 4, 2006, the Albanian Helsinki Committee (AHC) organized an event to promote
the initiation of the implementation of a new project "Monitoring respect for
minorities' rights at the Korçë municipality," in Korçë. In the context of
promoting the project, AHC representatives organized a meeting with the Korçë
Municipality Council to introduce the project's objectives and activities to be
carried out in its context. The project seeks to highlight the degree of
participation of minority representatives in decision-making, possibilities to
increase representation, and find mechanisms to accomplish that goal.
 The
Korçë Municipality Council expressed its engagement in and support for the
implementation of the project at the Korçë Municipality. Korçë local media also
attended the meeting. AHC had also drafted a press release on the meeting, which
was disseminated to the media at the end of the meeting.
 On
the occasion of the project's promotion one of Korçë's leading local TV stations
"Lobi" organized a program with AHC representatives and the Korçë Municipality
Council Chair. The purpose of the program was to increase the awareness of Korçë
citizens to increase participation in the project's implementation and to
demonstrate the importance of their involvement in this process.
