The AHC’s main mission is the observation of respect for
the freedoms and rights of citizens and the reaction to
violations for the purpose of their reinstatement;
sensitising citizens about the protection of their
freedoms and rights; improving legislation and the
practice of law enforcement through opponence and
recommendations in the phases of the drafting of laws as
well as of their enforcement.
Meetings with representatives of the
Justice Ministry on the improvement of juvenile legislation
During January 2005, the AHC organized a series of meetings
with representatives of the Ministry of Justice and UNICEF regarding the draft
proposal on juvenile legislation as well as the recommendations that the AHC has
presented in its legal critique on juvenile legislation.
Participants in these meetings addressed issues of juvenile
legislation as well as problems of its implementation in practice. They also
discussed about a joint round table on juvenile justice. the AHC has organized a
serioes of meetings with representatives of local and international
organizations, such as the OSCE, the Legal Initiative Center (Womens Advocacy
Center), the Legal Clinic for Juveniles, etc.
