Increasing public access to the justice system and due legal process under monitoring by the Aalbanian Helsinki Committee

In order to help respect standards defined in the European Convention of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and to increase public access to justice, AHC began to implement the project on court monitoring.

Activities

AHC met with representatives of the District and Appeal Courts in Tirana, Durrës, Vlora and Shkodra

Started from November 2008, AHC is implementing the project “Increasing access to justice and respect for the right to due legal process”, financially supported by the Swedish Helsinki Committee.

AHC organized the round table on “Conclusions and recommendations regarding monitoring missions carried out on due legal process”

The Albanian Helsinki Committee (AHC), on December 4, 2009, organized the round table on “Conclusions and recommendations regarding monitoring missions carried out on due legal process.” The purpose of the round table was not only to highlight achievements and issues encountered during the observations regarding the proper conduct of judicial processes, but also about encouraging the exchange of experiences of different actors participating in the round table discussion.

AHC trains its monitors regarding the monitoring of legal process in some courts 

11.01.2009

In the framework of increasing public access to the justice system and for better respect of the due legal process, AHC started the monitoring of the courts in some judicial district first instance and appeals courts of Tirana, Durrës, Vlora, and Shkodra. On 10 January 2009 it was held the training session of 45 monitors of Tirana, Durres, Shkodra and Vlora cities and of AHC local coordinators.
