Brief information for the AHC’s correspondents training

 

In December 18, 2003, in the framework of the project “Strengthening AHC’s network of the correspondents in 7 cities in Albania” took place the correspondents training on AHC environment. This training was financially supported by CORDAID.

 

The main goal of this training was double fold; first it aimed at making correspondents acquainted with the monitors problems in the judicial area, since some monitoring mission were planned to be carried out in this area. The correspondents will observe the respect of human rights in judicial organs in all the cities they operate.

 

Second this training aimed raising the capacities of the correspondents, an initiative that is founded in the AHC’s annual plan regarding capacity building of the staff.

 

The participants is this training were the following: Mr. Frederik Jorgaqi, Mrs. Kaliopi Bici, Mr. Rudin Peqini, Mr. Andi Muratej, Mr. Thoma Leka and Mr. Avni Kataroshi (all AHC Correspondents).

 

The responsible persons for the correspondents training were Mr. Naizi Jaho, legal adviser of AHC and the project and Mrs. Edlira Papavangjeli, Program’s Coordinator of AHC and director of this project.

 

The trainers presented a monitoring methodology in judiciary organs and they treated the concerns and the problems that the correspondents faced while conduction monitoring in this area.

 

Regarding Capacity building of the correspondents, the training was based on the assessment of correspondent’s activities in this area of Human Rights.

 

In addition the problems and the challenges that correspondents faced during the first year of their activities were discussed as well as the positive experiences during the monitoring work.

 

Based on the lessons learnt during the first year of correspondent’s work a plan was elaborated f for the continuation of this network.

 

This activity was evaluated as necessary and positive from all participants.
