In the context of
organizational strengthening and a new 2007 2010 strategy compilation, the AHC
organized during January a self-evaluation of the organization's work. The
entire AHC staff was engaged in the self-evaluation process, which a Dutch
expert assisted. The goal of the self-evaluation was to improve the
organization's work by pointing out weaknesses and strengthes of the
organization, analyze the human rights situation in which the organization
works, analyze human resources, vision and values, compare results of
activities to resources employed, highlight difficulties in the organization's
work, all accompanied by relevant recommendations to overcome them and improve
work in the future.

The organization's
evaluation went through two phases:
The first phase
involved the self-evaluation of the organization by the staff. The methodology
used was drafting of a questionnaire that covered issues related to the
organization's work, the functioning of its structures, as well as internal and
external communication. The questionnaire was drafted relying on standards
determined by the European Foundation for Quality Management.
The second phase
involved the monitoring of the self-evaluation process and an external
evaluation of the organization by the foreign expert who held meetings with the
staff, and AHC's Assembly and Board members. The expert also had a series of
meetings with representatives of Albanian NPOs, international organizations,
state institutions, and AHC collaborators.
The
AHC staff prepared a report at the end of this process and the foreign expert
will draft another report. The self-evaluation was conducted in the context of
the project Organization's Capacity Building and Strengthening of Internal
Capacities, made possible financially by the Catholic Organization for Relief
and Development CORDAID
The AHC thanks CORDAID
for supporting and funding this initiative.
