The goal of this publication is to inform the public and employees of the judicial system about the role of the International Criminal Court, the application of its statute in domestic legislation as well as to encourage relevant state structures to undertake the necessary steps for improving the Albanian legal context.

The publication consists of four separate parts, of which the first one is a detailed study on the Statute of the International Criminal Court, some constitutional aspects of its ratification by the Republic of Albania; the criminal and criminal procedure legislation regarding to the Rome Statute, excerpts from international acts such as the Vienna Convention "On the Law on Treaties" as well as special excerpts from Albanian legislation related to the Statute of this Court as well as the decision of the Constitutional Court on the compatibility of the Rome Statute and the Albanian Constitution.

This study will be a good help even for all the representatives of state authorities charged with policy making and legal reform, students of the Law Faculty and the Magistrates' School, law enforcement members, the Albanian civil society and HR activists.
